Finally some new stuff to listen to and be amazed by. Hyped to the extent of a modern day Sgt. Pepper, Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavillion" is a sonic wonder to listen to. Impossible to classify, they meld the electronic, harmonies and the discordant into such a joyous amalgm that it takes several listens to put it all together. Overhyped? Possibly, but it's so much fun to see a group make such interesting new music.
I had the pleasure of going to see three great local bands a few weeks ago. It was the CD release party for Black Carl, a bluesy pop band whose lead singer blows me away each time I see them. Their friends What Laura Says and Kinch opened up for them at Martini Ranch. It was my first time seeing Kinch and these young guys play fantastic pop songs. Makes me jealous. By the way, it was my first time seeing live music at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale. Great sound and lighting there, but the Scottsdale "Dirty" crowd still permeate the atmosphere. Ugh.
I'd like to add another nominee for a favorite album of '08. I missed Annual's "Such Fun" when it came out in October. Great disc and I'm looking forward to seeing them soon.
Oh, by the way, our band The Twisted Mac will be back out sometime in March, hopefully sooner. We hope to get the video of last month's gig on YouTube or MySpace soon.
Lastly, call me shallow if you must, but if there was an image of the girl of my dreams, it is this one.
It has more to do with the album she's clutching than the fact she's young, attractive and wearing next to nothing. Really.

Hey Bill, I know what you mean about the living situation thing, I wonder if home ownership is really all that it is cracked up to be! You can't move however until we at least come to visit you- I am trying to convince Cliff that AZ should be our next destination!
